1. Everyone OPENs → everyone shares the POT + HOPE.
2. One player STEALs → they take the POT. Everyone who OPENed shares HOPE.
3. Two or more STEAL → the box jams. The POT is locked inside and becomes HOPE for the next game.

DEAL — press DEAL together to shake hands. If you STEAL from someone you shook with, you pay them 50¢. MAYA may accuse one player before the lock. Accuse the lone thief → CAUGHT: the thief gets nothing, everyone else shares POT + HOPE. Accuse an honest player → HOPE pays them $1 as an apology.
